This term our topic will be ‘Human Nature’. During this topic we will be introducing the children to how we can stay healthy, what good hygiene is and the human life cycle. We will also look at how we can work together and complete a number of team building tasks in PE. We will be exploring family relationships within books written by the authors, Anthony Browne and Aaron Becker. Our core text within English this half term will be ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne.

In English, we will be learning about settings within fiction texts. Children will learn how to create a detailed setting and how to write a portal story. They will create story maps to create their own written piece and use drama and role play to support their learning.

In Mathematics, we will be learning about place value. We will be learning how to read, count and order numbers to 100. We will learn how to partition numbers and identify the tens and ones within each number. We will also learn how to count in multiples of ten.

In Science, we will be learning about human health. This will include learning about healthy eating, the human lifecycle and why good hygiene is important. We will order the lifecycle of a human and discuss how we can keep our body healthy. We will also learn about the five food groups and what a balanced diet is.

Within Art and Design Technology this term we will be learning how to sketch facial features to create characters and learning how to sketch the human form. We will be learning how to sketch facial emotions and how to make human form sculptures.
We will also design and create large scale collages, using a variety of materials.

In R.E this term we will be learning about the religion of Hinduism. We will learn about Hindu values such as, respect for all living things, caring for others and truthfulness. We will also learn about how Hindus worship in a Mandir and identify ways in which Hindu beliefs are similar to other religious beliefs.
